Growing up in Moscow, ballet was an integral part of the cultural fabric of Darina Elchaninova’s life, and her early fascination with it inspired dreams of performing on the Bolshoi stage. Years later, observing the ballet scene in Singapore, she noted that despite the growing number of young dancers and schools, homegrown talent remains scarce, highlighting the challenges of pursuing the arts in a society that prioritizes financially secure careers over creative passions.

The first 2025 ballet roster update highlights notable promotions, appointments, farewells, and awards across the dance world. Once deemed “uncool,” ballet flats have made a triumphant return, blending nostalgic charm with modern versatility in 2025. From classic cap-toed designs to edgy and mesh variations, they effortlessly elevate outfits ranging from casual jeans to chic dresses, making them a must-have accessory once again.

Long Beach Ballet’s Ambassadors to China Summer Intensive offers dancers a unique blend of cultural and technical enrichment, featuring three weeks of training in Long Beach followed by two weeks of performances, master classes, and sightseeing in China. Artistic Director David Wilcox emphasizes the transformative impact of this cross-cultural experience, which fosters creativity, cultural competence, and professional touring insight while connecting dancers through the universal language of ballet.
