Hundreds of ballet dancers hailing from more than 20 states and several different countries made their way to the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan New York on Wednesday with one goal in mind, to beat the Guinness World Record of holding the position known as “en pointe”. Organized by the Youth America Grand Prix, in the end the group of ballet dancers were successful in reaching their goal and breaking the record.

Cleveland Ballet has appointed Larry Goodman as its new President and CEO, following a tumultuous period marked by allegations against former co-founder Michael Krasnyansky, who resigned last fall. Under Goodman's leadership, the ballet company is making strides towards improvement and is currently gearing up for its upcoming performance of "Sleeping Beauty."

In 1989, Ariel Serrano and Carlos Acosta, selected from the Cuban National Ballet School, spent a transformative year dancing in Italy, igniting their careers and lifelong friendship. Now, Carlos Acosta, artistic director of Birmingham Royal Ballet, will reunite with Serrano in Sarasota to perform his intimate ballet "On Before," a tribute to his late mother, in collaboration with Serrano’s Sarasota Cuban Ballet School.

The New York City Ballet's 2024-25 season will feature earlier curtain times and fewer intermissions, with a tribute to Maria Tallchief and a diverse lineup including works by Balanchine, Robbins, and three world premieres. The changes aim to accommodate audience preferences and adapt to post-pandemic lifestyles, offering a wide range of performances while

maintaining quality.

American ballerina Emily Davis has left her ballet career to pursue a PhD in dance health at Glasgow Caledonian University, focusing on the benefits of dance classes for people with multiple sclerosis (MS) in Scotland. Inspired by the Dance for Parkinson's program, Davis aims to expand research on dance's therapeutic effects for neurological conditions, collaborating with Scottish Ballet and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to explore dance's potential to improve physical, mental, and social well-being for MS patients.

After recovering from a severe Achilles tendon injury, star dancer Steven McRae advocates for better care and support for ballet artists. Through his journey, documented in "A Resilient Man," which will be released in Britain and elsewhere later this year, McRae emphasizes the importance of prioritizing dancers' physical and mental well-being overachieving a certain appearance or performance at all costs.
